ARTIST STATEMENT

As an artist, I’m not interested in what’s easily explained, conventionally beautiful, or politically correct. I champion authenticity by fostering a creative process that enables real life stories to emerge. I am drawn to the underdogs, the underprivileged, “the odd ones” in our contemporary society – they are the protagonists I put center stage. I encourage my collaborators to take risks and delve into their darker sides while expressing their inner lives and raw and universal emotions through visuals, movement and acting. Aesthetically, my work reflects a cross-disciplinary sensibility that draws from my training in visual arts and Tanztheater. The physicality that emerges through such a process fully embodies the personality of each performer and infuses the work with deeply felt personal stories.
